Where can I find information on my older rod or reel or other gear on your website?
You may have a Redington product that has been discontinued and no longer available. For more information, you can download older product catalogs from the archive link below. The catalogs will have product specifications, descriptions, and full lists of models and sizes.
How much is used or discontinued fly fishing gear worth?
Used fly fishing gear typically does not appreciate in value over time. Generally, used rods will sell anywhere from 25-50% of retail value.
Can I get spools for my discontinued reel?
Currently we do not offer discontinued spools. There are some new spools that will fit older reels:
- 2011 Crosswater spool will fit 2007-2010 Crosswater reels
- 2011 Pursuit spool will fit Red.Fly2 reels
If your reel is not listed above, you may be able to find a spool online from various dealers or online auction websites.
What fly line will match my rod?
We understand that fly lines can be confusing, there are so many out there and they all do different things. Each fishery has specific needs and techniques, we recommend contacting your local fly fishing shop or outdoor store for specific fly line needs.
Generally, we recommend using the designated line size for each rod, over lining or under lining will inhibit all around rod performance and is not recommended. For spey rod recommendations, you can visit this link here.
Can my rod or reel be used in saltwater?
Yes, all of our rods 7wt and higher are made for saltwater use and we do offer a few saltwater 6wt rods. All of our reels can be used in saltwater too. As with any gear, we recommend rinsing off your rod or reel after each use in saltwater.
How do I change my reel to Left hand or Right hand wind?
All of our reels can be changed from LH to RH wind. You can find instructions for your reel here:
