I was pleasantly surprised last October when I used a Redington Pursuit 9'8 wt rod for Kings on the Salmon River in Altmar NY. The rod is super light and I never expected it to hold up. After 4 days of catching Kings in a heavy run and approximately 200 hook-ups, the rod performed perfectly. I will purchase another one for my son this year. Very nice for the price.
The Redington Pursuit Rod retails for only $99, and no it's not a cheap rod. It's an extreme value. The rod is excellent for standard conditions. I caught tens of fish per day on this rod and cast it hundreds of times. The only time I reached for a different rod, was when the wind started blowing hard. It's a great rod for anyone who is getting into fly fishing, or if you're an experienced fisherman, but just need a rod in a different weight for a one time a year fishing trip.
These are smooth casting, high performance graphite fly rods ideal for the novice to intermediate fly angler and also make the perfect backup rod for your next fishing expedition. Priced right, it's easy to justify filling out your arsenal with the Pursuit Series.
I have used many rods and reels over the years from many price levels. I just bought the 7' 3wt pursuit rod and reel and this is by far the best i've experienced. Excellent quality, excellent price. I recommend redington to everyone.
I have fished this rod for 5 months.. Its light, fun and a good value.
