I have fished this rod for 5 months.. Its light, fun and a good value.
I have used many rods and reels over the years from many price levels. I just bought the 7' 3wt pursuit rod and reel and this is by far the best i've experienced. Excellent quality, excellent price. I recommend redington to everyone.
These are smooth casting, high performance graphite fly rods ideal for the novice to intermediate fly angler and also make the perfect backup rod for your next fishing expedition. Priced right, it's easy to justify filling out your arsenal with the Pursuit Series.
The Redington Pursuit Rod retails for only $99, and no it's not a cheap rod. It's an extreme value. The rod is excellent for standard conditions. I caught tens of fish per day on this rod and cast it hundreds of times. The only time I reached for a different rod, was when the wind started blowing hard. It's a great rod for anyone who is getting into fly fishing, or if you're an experienced fisherman, but just need a rod in a different weight for a one time a year fishing trip.
I was pleasantly surprised last October when I used a Redington Pursuit 9'8 wt rod for Kings on the Salmon River in Altmar NY. The rod is super light and I never expected it to hold up. After 4 days of catching Kings in a heavy run and approximately 200 hook-ups, the rod performed perfectly. I will purchase another one for my son this year. Very nice for the price.
I've pounded my 590-4 and 7100-4 on the Deschutes River for trout and steelies and am totally impressed with both. They are guns! Light, fast, and durable. The performance came as kind of a shock to me as I have a number of $700-$800 rods in the quiver. The Pursuit is a fantastic all-around rod at a price point that borderlines on being ridiculous. What a great value!
Well, I must say, I am quite impressed. I bought this rod solely to see what it was all about. Many people have said that this is one of the nicest rods out there for the price. The quality of the blank is simply spectacular and could easily compare with my $400 and $500 dollor rods from G. Loomis and R. L . Winston. Some things I did not like about the rod was the cork grip. The one I recieved has a pretty poor grip with lots of filler in it. This was the biggest problem I have seen with the rod. Another thing that is worth noting is that it appears that no color preserver was put on the thread wraps. For you newbies out there, this means that the thread is slightly transparent and you can see the foot of the line guide right throught the thread. This wasn't a bid deal for me as I am more of a performance-before-beauty-kinda guy. Over all I am very impressed with the rod and, for the price, you just can't beat it!
Bought this rod just a few weeks ago and i fish with it everyday. It is a nice value pack for starters and i would recomened it. I took it out the first day and even taught myself how to fish with very good rod for all levels
So I went to my local fly shop looking for a reel n line and ended up walking out with the 8wt outfit. Great price, awesome action, great looking and the case is super durable. That case keeps my rod with reel connected safe and sound. Really cant say enough about this outfit. I've caught sunfish, bass, walleyes n CARP! No problems the drag is great, has no problem slowing down a 28" carp. Looking for a great starter combo? This is it hands down, oh and did you see the lifetime warranty on the rod? And great Rio Main Line spooled on it to boot. Buy one, have fun catching fish, n smile...
Fished my 8 wt Pursuit hard for 1 week on sockeye salmon on the Kenai river in Alaska. Landed over 100 fish and then proceeded to "donate" it to the river on a large male that took me by surprise and yanked right outta my hand. Pure Operator Error - LOL. Great rod, just need another.....
I challenge you to find a better steelhead stick for this price, then double that price to find one that is gaurenteed. I over lined it with an wf8f and it loads beautifully. I can't believe a 10 ft rod can be that lite. Enough tip to protect 5X but enough backbone to put the wood to a silver bullet on 2X or 3X
Great Rod as far as the continental is concerned
