I purchased the Pursuit 690 4-piece earlier this year, it has great response and has improved my casting 10 fold. I love this rod!
this is my first fly rod! smooth casting and nice response. A great introduction to fly fishing.
i am interested in buying this outfit. however, i am disappointed with redington. the outfit shows a "lifetime" warranty statement, but this only pertains to the rod, not the reel. i find this statement misleading.
I love this rod it cast great. I used it in salt water and it never rusted. My leader did break after i cast in the maingroves.
Purchased the 480-2. Quality, Build and finish look fantastic. Can't wait for my son to try this out on this weekend. Value for money, these Combos are unbeatable! I'll be back to buy a few more Remington Rods for sure! My Son's unboxing video here: http://youtu.be/tOX1LWAd1HY
I bought the 4 weight 8ft rod pkg. I really like the rod alot. I can double haul line out like no ones business and nymphing on TN tailwaters and creeks is great. My only issue is one week into owning the rod I barely bumped a branch (a branch no bigger in diameter than the fly rod) and the rod snapped at the 3rd or 4th ferrule from the top. Not a big deal because of the lifetime warranty right? Well it turns out that you have to pay a $30 fee plus S&H. This totals around $40 to $45 (UPS insured). Not a huge deal and I guess thats pretty standard (especially since it wasnt a manufacturing fault) but it did kind of bum me out to pay $45 on a rod that I spent $175 (price + TN sales tax) on total. But I did get it back and overall I am very satisfied with the product!
I love this rod it cast great. I used it in salt water and it never rusted. My leader did break after i cast in the maingroves. But it is still great looking at the voyant 4wt know for more freshwater fishing.
just got this 8 weight -4 piece rod, it is amazing !!! Soo nice I caught a big chum salmon and the rod held up really well. The reel is amazing a over all I really like this rod thanks for every thing redingote :):):):):)
I got this around June of 2012 when I got hooked on fishing. I had always wanted to learn how to fly fish and the man at my local store suggested the Pursuit 480-4. I've used it over 50 times in six months. It's gone clear water trout fishing, muddy bass fishing, and I even tried using it in the California Aqueduct. I'm writing this as I'm purchasing the Pursuit 890-4 for steelhead, heavy bass flies, and carp. I'd recommend redington over any other beginner rod outfit.
