You'll find walnut shells on the bottom of these boots for added traction, and a first blush, it appears to work. Traipsing around southeast Alaska in these found that they're grabby on large to medium sized rocks. They're comfortable, easy to put on and easy to lace up. The rubber toe cap adds durability and are stud compatible.
Despite waving a flyrod on rivers for 30+ years, I'm a relative newcomer to the Redington product line-up. Over that time I've been through many pairs and brands of boots, non of which that compare to these Skagits. I'm happy to find the forward thinking beyond felt that has been achieved with this sole construction. I feel grounded and can actually remain vertical, even in the swiftest crossings. It's the lightest and most comfortable boot I've worn.....truly a top drawer product. As for customer service......I have been dazzled. It simply DOES NOT get any better than Redington!!
